We provide medical nutrition therapy for patients while they are in hospital. This includes the assessment of a patient’s nutritional risk calculation of requirements and then determining the best route of providing nutrition to each patient. This could entail intravenous nutrition, enteral nutrition (tube feeding), or oral nutritional supplementation.
Additionally, we provide in-depth nutritional counselling to patients with a wide variety of medical conditions that include, but is not limited to, kidney failure, cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, malnutrition, trauma, and critical care. Patients are either referred by their attending physician or surgeon, or may self-request a consultation with a dietitian during their stay in hospital.
